Pulsing with an undercurrent of desire and a vital, excessive energy, Isadora Vaughan’s sculptures reveal a feral, untamed quality that complicates notions of interior and exterior as it relates to all forms of life. Often ephemeral, provisional, and laborious, her work investigates the histories embedded in specific materials and the narratives that emerge through the dynamic encounter with them as artwork. Vaughan's installations function as an event: a contingent and responsive framework that holds varied elements in suspension. Through overt shifts in scale – juxtaposing fragile, specimen-like forms with large architectural interventions – the work generates affective atmospheres as simultaneous world-building and dissolution.
