Chris Madden’s sculptural practice originates through automatic drawings, the resulting works often merging organic shapes and forms with direct social, personal or cultural references. Built out layer by layer then laboriously sanded back, his sculptures create surfaces that hold the memory of their own making, inviting a close examination of growth and decay.
